Recycling and Composting
Reducing Waste. Building a Greener Future
Recycling & Composting
New Bedford Public Schools is committed to reducing waste and promoting environmental sustainability throughout its Food & Nutrition Services operations.
Through kitchen composting programs currently operating at five school sites, food scraps and other compostable materials are collected and repurposed rather than discarded as trash. These initiatives help reduce waste, support environmental stewardship, and provide students with real-world examples of sustainable practices in action.
By integrating composting into daily operations, New Bedford Public Schools is helping build a culture of sustainability while teaching students the importance of responsible resource management and environmental responsibility.
