  • As you plan for college, check out MEFA's College Admissions and Financial Aid Timeline. Segmented by season, the timeline provides action steps to help students navigate the process of applying for college and financial aid. You will find links, important reminders, and key resources to guide them through the next several months.

  • All seniors and their parents/guardians are encouraged to complete financial aid applications as soon as possible. Students who would like assistance, please see the flyers below, or follow this link to schedule an appointment. Assistance with the FAFSA, the MASFA, and other forms is available.

  • Are you interested in learning more about Early College at NBHS? Would you like to get a head start on college classes at no cost, while enjoying the supports that high school provides? Interested sophomores should email earlycollege@newbedfordschools.org to receive more information.

  • Attention seniors-- It is necessary for all NBHS seniors to request college application materials through MEFA Pathway. Every senior has access to a MEFA Pathway account. Please login using Clever.The link below will assist students in connecting their Common Application to their MEFA Pathway account.

    CONNECTING MEFA PATHWAY AND COMMON APP ACCOUNTS

  • NBHS welcomes college admissions representatives to visit during the school day throughout the fall. Interested juniors and seniors may sign up to receive a pass for the visit. All visits will take place in the NBHS College & Career Center, unless otherwise noted. To register, use this link, and be sure to sign up at least two school days prior to a visit. Students will need to complete a registration for each college, and only students with passes will be admitted to the visit. To assist students in learning more, upcoming visits are listed below.     Community college is now FREE in Massachusetts thanks to MassEducate! No tuition and no fees!
    To be eligible for MassEducate, you must:

    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
      • If you are not eligible to complete the FAFSA and are an approved “High School Completer” under the Massachusetts tuition equity law, you can complete the Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) and still attend for free.
    • Apply to your local community college and enroll in an approved program of study. Applications are open all year long and there’s never an application fee.
    • Have physically resided in Massachusetts for at least one year, as of the start of your first enrolled term.
    • Have earned a high school diploma or the equivalent
    • Are enrolled in at least six credits (usually two classes) per semester in an approved program of study leading to an associate degree or certificate.
    • Maintain satisfactory academic progress in accordance with the college’s requirements. 

    (Bristol Community College is our local community college and even has a campus right in New Bedford! Visit bristolcc.edu for more information.)

  • Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year has closed. Students in grades 9 and 10 who are interested in joining Early College should email EarlyCollege@newbedfordschools.org. A staff member will follow up with students directly.

    Early College provides students with the opportunity to take college courses during the junior and senior years of high school. Students who participate for two years will be eligible to earn at least 12 college credits at no cost. This program is designed to provide support to students while in high school to increase college enrollment and persistence after graduation. More information is available on the Early College webpage.
