Explore Our Four Key Gears Driving Innovation

Our Technology Action Plan is built around four essential gears that work together to create a future-ready learning environment. Each gear represents a core focus area critical to supporting student success and instructional excellence.

Each gear includes a detailed overview of our goals and action steps, offering transparency and direction as we move forward. Click below to explore how each gear drives our district's progress:

Together, these gears turn intention into impact. Discover how we're building a stronger, more connected learning experience for all.

The New Bedford Public School Technology Department’s theory of change is grounded in the belief that learner-centered transformation is driven by empowered leadership, sustainable innovation, and inclusive collaboration. We believe meaningful change happens when leadership at all levels fosters a culture of trust, creativity, and high expectations—where taking informed risks is encouraged and success is measured by lasting impact on teaching and learning, not just compliance.

To ensure innovation is sustainable, the Technology Department will align its efforts with the district’s strategic instructional, financial, and infrastructural priorities. All initiatives will be guided by data, centered on equity, and evaluated through a total cost of ownership (TCO) lens to ensure long-term value and scalability. This approach allows us to invest strategically in digital tools, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and professional learning that grow with the evolving needs of our schools.

Stakeholder engagement is central to our work. The Technology Department will actively involve educators, students, families, and community partners in shaping and refining our vision. Through design teams, learning walks, feedback loops, and district-wide planning structures, we will ensure that all voices are heard and influence our direction.

Ultimately, the New Bedford Public Schools Technology Department is committed to building a system where all stakeholders feel seen, valued, and connected to a shared mission: to empower every student with equitable access to future-ready skills and dynamic digital learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

Future Ready Schools® Frameworks

A structure for digital learning visioning, planning, and implementation

At the heart of Future Ready Schools® (FRS) and the Interactive Planning Dashboard is the Future Ready Framework, a robust structure for digital learning visioning, planning, and implementation focused on student-centered learning.

The research-based framework emphasizes collaborative leadership and creating an innovative school culture. All content focuses on seven key areas (called gears), plus leadership, each of which is addressed during the comprehensive planning process. This framework keeps student learning at the heart of all decision-making.
