Early College Enrollment

Sophomores are now invited to sign up for the NBHS Early College Program. Students should use this link to complete an interest form along with a parent/guardian.

Early College provides students with the opportunity to take college courses during the junior and senior years of high school. Students who participate for two years will be eligible to earn at least 12 college credits at no cost. This program is designed to provide support to students while in high school to increase college enrollment and persistence after graduation. More information is available on the Early College webpage.

Advising and Financial Aid with Bristol Community College On Wednesday, May 15, seniors who plan to enroll at Bristol Community College are invited to meet with Jenna DeBortoli, Admissions Coordinator for Bristol Community College, and her advising colleagues, to select courses for next fall. Interested seniors should complete this form to sign up by Friday, May 10, or see their school counselor. Financial Aid assistance will be provided as well. This will be the last Bristol CC event for seniors at New Bedford High School this spring.

The Safe Schools Program for LGBTQ Students is enthusiastic to invite applications for the Statewide GSA Student Leadership Council. Students who are accepted will serve on the council until June 2025. We are seeking rising 9–12 grade level students in all regions of Massachusetts to join the Statewide Council. The Statewide GSA Student Leadership Council is comprised of students from all regions of the commonwealth who are committed to developing their own skills to positively impact inclusive school environments. Through the exchange of LGBTQ+ and social justice knowledge, engaging in policy-related discussions and collaborating with state and local stakeholders the council aims to empower and amplify student voices to influence school climate and support for a brighter educational future for all.

Individuals who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, as well as those who identify as feminine, and/or as Trans/Non-Binary/Gender Expansive, Immigrants, and Disabled Youth are encouraged to apply.

Engagement Opportunity for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ Students
The Safe Schools Program for LGBTQ Students is are eager to connect with high school students from the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities to discuss their involvement in leadership initiatives, exploring what attracts them and what challenges they face. College Representative Visits This fall, New Bedford High School hosted more than 20 college admissions representatives. The individuals represented colleges near and far that offer a variety of programs and majors, and have admissions procedures with varying degrees of selectivity. More than 100 juniors and seniors attended at least one visit. Thank you to all of the college representatives who included NBHS in their fall travel schedule!

Military Mondays
We enjoyed our weekly cafeteria visits this fall with our dedicated military recruiters. Visits will resume on Monday, January 29 and will continue throughout the spring. are excited to welcome our military recruiters to visit juniors and seniors during lunches every Monday beginning in mid-September. Representatives will be in the cafeterias according a schedule which will be posted shortly. Please check back soon!
