New Bedford Public Schools’ English Learner Education Department serves to support all teachers, district/school administrators, instructional specialists, parents, and guardians in the education of English Learners (ELs) and Dual Language Learners in the district. Working closely with the district’s leadership team, it sets policy and implementation standards and monitors the implementation and effectiveness of all language acquisition programs including, Sheltered English Immersion (SEI), Newcomer Program, SLIFE Program, Long-Term EL Program, and Dual Language Education (DLE).
