SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR CURRENT HS SENIORS

All members of the NBHS Class of 2024 who are continuing their education after graduation are encouraged to complete the New Bedford High School Scholarship Application, one application that is used for multiple awards. In order to be considered for these awards, applications must be submitted by April 12, 2024.

PLEASE NOTE: There are many excellent search engines that help students seek scholarship opportunities. The list below includes awards that have been sent to NBPS, directly or indirectly, but cannot be considered a comprehensive list of all of the college scholarships that exist. Our website displays awards with upcoming deadlines. However, once the deadlines have passed, previous awards will be listed beneath the current scholarships. That list can give younger students, and their caregivers, ideas about what scholarships may be available for them when they are preparing to attend college. There is no guarantee that these awards will be available in future years. These awards are all external to New Bedford Public Schools. APRIL DEADLINES

THE FOLLOWING AWARDS REQUIRE APPLICATIONS TO BE SUBMITTED TO NEW BEDFORD HIGH SCHOOL MAIN OFFICE DIRECTLY:

Bethany Pacheco Brum Memorial Scholarship This award is for a graduate who will be attending the University of Massachusetts. Visit this link for the application. Applications are due by Friday, April 12, 2024 to the main office at New Bedford High School.

Robyn A. Dabrowski Memorial Scholarship 

This award will be presented to a student who is involved in interscholastic activities and has been accepted by, and will attend, an accredited institution of higher learning. Visit this link to access the application. This application requires a short essay, and must be submitted by April 12, 2024 to main office at New Bedford High School.

Jonathan Oliveira Memorial Scholarship All graduating seniors who plan to enroll in college in the fall are eligible to apply for this award. This application requires a short essay and can be found at this link. It must be submitted by April 12, 2024 to the main office at New Bedford High School.

William F. Taylor Memorial Scholarship

The Taylor family will award a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior from New Bedford High School who will be playing a sport at the NCAA collegiate level. To download the application, visit this link. This application requires an essay, and must be submitted by April 19, 2024 to the main office at New Bedford High School.

Kathleen Joyce Nelson Scholarship This award is in memory of Kathleen Joyce Nelson. Two awards of at least $1,000 will be given to graduating seniors, with preference to students who have struggled with cancer or who have been involved in the cancer community through community service, employment, volunteer work, or family involvement. NBHS Class of 1960 Fund

The Class of 1960 will award an annual $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who is a grandchild, or great-grandchild of a New Bedford High School Class of 1960 Alumni. Any Applicant who has at least one parent or (grandparent) who graduated from New Bedford High School any year may apply-preference is given to The Class of 1960. Applications can be found here and are due by April 26, 2024 to the main office at New Bedford High School.

Massachusetts Broadcasters Association

Eligible students are Massachusetts residents with a declared major in a broadcast-related field. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited two or four-year college. The interactive scholarship application can be found at MassBroadcasters.org/scholarship. Completed applications may be printed and mailed, or completed electronically and submitted by email. (Transcripts may need to be sent separately.) Applications are due by April 12, 2024.

Red Sox Foundation

The Red Sox Foundation’s New England Service Scholarship initiative recognizes graduating high school seniors across New England who are making a meaningful impact through service in their local communities by awarding them a $1,000 college scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, recipients will participate in a service project in Boston before being honored on the field at Fenway Park before the Monday, June 24th game against the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:10pm. The scholarship application can be found at www.redsoxfoundation.org/servicescholarships/ and is due by April 12, 2024.

Martha Briggs Educational Club, Inc.

This organization provides two distinct scholarships to students of color in the Greater New Bedford area. The Martha Briggs Educational Club scholarship will be awarded to students of color pursuing any degree area. The Jane C. Waters scholarship will be awarded to a student of color pursuing education. This application requires an essay, and finalists will be invited for an interview. The requirements and the complete application form can be found here online. Applications must be received by April 12, 2024.


NHLA Education FUND The NLHA Education Fund was established as a 501(c)(3) organization to raise funds for the purpose of awarding education grants and scholarships to low-income individuals residing in federally assisted rental housing owned, managed, or administered by members of the National Leased Housing Association. The National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and preservation of decent and safe affordable rental housing. Residents of privately owned federally assisted low-income housing properties (Section 8, low-income housing tax credits, etc.) or recipients of Section 8 voucher assistance that demonstrate both merit and need are eligible to apply for this $3,500 award. Four types of scholarships will be awarded–one in recognition of one of the nation’s largest affordable rental housing providers and three in memory of three dedicated housing professionals and active NLHA members. Students must decide on ONE of the four scholarships when submitting their application. Visit hudnlha.com/education-fund/ for details and the links to apply. Cape Verdean Recognition Scholarship

Eligibility for this award is limited to graduating seniors from designated high schools, including New Bedford High School and Whaling City High School, who plan to attend a regionally accredited college or university in the upcoming Fall in a program of study leading to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. This application requires an essay, between 250 and 500 words, on the following: The importance of recognizing and celebrating Cape Verdean heritage; A personal account of obstacles you have overcome in your educational pursuits; Education and the Cape Verdean community; and How your Cape Verdean cultural heritage has affected your educational aspirations. National Center for Learning Disabilities Scholarships

NCLD offers annual scholarships and awards that celebrate the work and achievements of those students and leaders working to improve the lives of the 1 in 5 with learning and attention issues. The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded over two years ($2,500 each year) to a graduating high school senior who will enroll in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall. Students must have a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD.

The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a graduating high school senior who will be enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in the fall. Students must have a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD. Visit www.ncld.org/scholarships-awards for more information and the application. The deadline for both is Apr 13, 2024.

Christa Baptiste-Patterson Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Christa Baptiste-Patterson, who passed away in 1996 from Juvenile Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. The committee promotes bone marrow drives and supports students striving to continue their education. Applicants will need to provide a one-page letter explaining their financial need, what they have done to help others, personal strengths, aspirations, and goals. NMI Foundation Greater New Bedford Maritime Scholarship

The Northeast Maritime Institute Foundation created this scholarship to support students with an interest in a maritime industry career to complete a degree in Nautical Science at Northeast Maritime Institute. Applicants must be graduating from (or a recent graduate of) a high school in the Greater New Bedford area and have applied for admission to the NMI College of Maritime Science Associate in Applied Nautical Science Degree program. Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship The Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship is supported by the SPE Foundation and awards a $20,000 scholarship to an outstanding student who plans to enter a university and pursue an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering. The recipient will receive USD 5,000 per year for up to four years of university study. This is a merit-based scholarship. Recipients are typically in the top 3% in both class ranking and standardized test scores. Applicants must intend to enroll in petroleum engineering in a recognized university program according to your country or region, leading to an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering, must become an SPE member once eligible, comply with sanction policy, and complete the electronic application submission process. Only applications submitted via the link provided will be accepted. Applications received in any other format will not be eligible. If awarded, each semester, you must be enrolled in a petroleum engineering class by the beginning of the second year of university, remain in petroleum engineering degree program, maintain at least 2/3 of a full academic load, and have and maintain a satisfactory average of scores/marks for the current semester and cumulative total. Isabel White Memorial Scholarship

The South Coast Community Chorale has established this award in memory of Isabel White, who had a love of singing and helping the community before she passed away in 2002. Applicants must be a graduating senior who is entering a degree program in music, including instrumental, vocal, performance, education, production, and theater, at an accredited college or university. Proof of acceptance will need to be provided. More details and the application can be found at sccchorale.com/scholarships. Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2024.

Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council

This scholarship is available to high school seniors living in Southeastern Massachusetts or Cape Cod and the Islands whose parents, legal guardian, aunts, uncles, or grandparents are members of a labor union affiliated with the Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council. The student applicant may also be a member of a labor union affiliated to the labor council. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to the students selected as winners during the competition. All scholarships are awarded to those students who meet the selection criteria. Acushnet Teachers Association Scholarship Program 

The Acushnet Teachers Association annually awards scholarships to qualified students. Residents of Acushnet enrolling or enrolled in a full-time undergraduate college program in 2024-2225 are eligible for these awards. In addition to A.T.A. Scholarships, the A.T.A. Scholarship Committee is also responsible for judging applicants for the Acushnet P.T.O., Acushnet Lion’s Club, the Carole Day Memorial Nursing Scholarship, and the Acushnet Historical Society Scholarship. By filling out the single application form, students are considered for any and all of the above-named Acushnet scholarships for which they are eligible.For questions, please contact A.T.A. Shane Eric Martin Memorial Scholarship

This award is in memory of Shane Eric Martin, an educator who passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 44. The $2,500 scholarship is available to Acushnet seniors who attended the Albert F. Ford Middle School. Applicants must embody the attributes that the Shane Eric Martin Foundation stands for - letting your light shine and lifting up others.Recipients will be motivated and hardworking, shine kindness on all those they encounter, be a positive and supportive member of the community, and maintain good grades and strive to excel in learning. Mechanics Cooperative Bank

Up to four college scholarships ranging from $500 to $1500 will be awarded by the Mechanics Cooperative Bank to seniors attending high school in Bristol or Plymouth counties. Applicants must be in the top thirty (30) percent of their class and be accepted to a two- or four-year degree granting institution, including vocational and technical colleges. Oceantic Network Rising Star Student  Scholarship

Current seniors who intend to enroll full time in a two or four year college in the fall are eligible to apply for this $5000 scholarship. This award recognizes students who have demonstrated impeccable academic achievement and a keen interest in the offshore wind and ocean renewables industry. Applicants should also demonstrate excellent academic achievement, community service, and Involvement in a school project(s) related to an aspect of offshore renewable energy, and/or an internship working with companies involved in the offshore renewable energy industry. Applicants will be judged based on their interest in pursuing a career in offshore renewable energy, academic achievement, and financial need. The New Bedford Chapter of the NS Daughters of the American Revolution

This scholarship will be award to a graduating seniors who are seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. The New Bedford Chapter NSDAR will review all applications and award an individual up to $500.00. All information is considered confidential and is reviewed only by the New Bedford Chapter NSDAR Scholarship Committee. Applications that are not received by the deadline or that are incomplete will not be considered. To download the application, please follow this link. New Bedford High School Class of 1961 Scholarship

This $1,000 award is provided by the Class of 1961 scholarship fund. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, personal qualities, financial need and other personal factors. Follow this link to find the application. Completed applications should be turned in to the NBHS main office by Friday, May 3.
Lucy Camara Bly Memorial Scholarship This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a senior girl from NBHS who wishes to continue her education beyond high school. Mrs. Bly, an alumna of New Bedford High School, dedicated much of her time to aiding young people to continue their studies. As she was unable to reach her dream of attending college, it was her desire to help others attain theirs. Applications are available online here.
Please note that completed applications will be picked up from New Bedford High School. Your completed application is due to the main office by May 7, 2024.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarships from this fund are awarded every year to over 150 new applicants, as well as 300 returning, to assist in making college more accessible by removing financial barriers. Awards range from $2,000 to as high as $17,000, based on each applicant’s unmet need and are renewable each year, for students who maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. The average award each year is between $6,000 to $10,000. Open to students with significant financial need Awards are limited to residents of New England states only. Applications and details are available online at www.phillips-scholarship.org/apply. The website provides details about financial eligibility, including a calculator to determine if you qualify. The regular deadline for this scholarship is May 1, 2024.

Domingos Family Scholarship

The Domingos T. Silva Family Scholarship awards scholarships to graduates of “any Secondary (High) School accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., located in New Bedford, Fairhaven, Freetown, Westport, Acushnet or Dartmouth, Massachusetts, or … of students who graduated from a similarly accredited High School located outside said communities, but who are themselves residents of these communities” and who are pursuing a four-year college degree. Applications can be found here and are due by May 1, 2024 to the Tan house office.


2024 Omega Eta Zeta Academic Scholarship

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Omega Eta Zeta Chapter will award two scholarships to high school seniors applying to college in Fall 2024. This scholarship is available to students who reside or attend school in Southeastern Massachusetts. It provides financial assistance to those committed to making a difference in their communities. Completed applications will include an official high school transcript, an essay or video, and two recommendation letters, and will be accepted until May 1, 2024. Matt T. Benoit Memorial Scholarship

The intent of this scholarship is to recognize a student who resembles the qualities that Matt had. Matt was an average academic student with a solid academic record and appropriate course load, a four sport varsity athlete, and considered a team player. He held down a part time job, making effective use of his time. Applicants than can display the same time management skills will be considered. Matt had a true love of family and his faith. Applicants will be asked to write about how their attributes are similar to Matt’s. For the complete application, visit this link. Completed applications must be submitted by May 1, 2024.

Mary A. Smith Memorial Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship is awarded by Your Theatre, Inc. in memory of Mary A. Smith. It is given to a student who intends to pursue a career in the performing arts.  Applications may be found online here and are due by May 7, 2024.

Ryan Yebba Memorial Mental Health Scholarship

Any high school junior or senior who is interested in going into a mental health field may apply for this $18,450 scholarship. This award seeks to honor the memory of Ryan Yebba, who lost his life to suicide at the age of 24, by supporting students who are passionate about pursuing a career in mental health treatment. Applicants should be committed to creating a positive social change and progress in our schools. The Seven Hills President’s Scholarships presented by Talent Search

Two $1,000 scholarships are available to NBHS Talent Search seniors. One scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic and extracurricular achievement. The application can be found here. The second will be awarded to a senior who has demonstrated determination and perseverance. That application can be found at here. Applications for both awards require an essay and are due on May 10, 2024. Applications should be submitted in the Tan House office or to D-111.

Jim's Team for Diabetes Foundation

This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on average provides approximately 20 scholarships per year for T1D (Type 1 Diabetic) students from across the USA thanks to the generous corporate funding support received from Embecta, headquartered in New Jersey. The awards are valued at $500 each to help cover the student's diabetes medical supplies when they first begin their college studies. The deadline for students to apply is May 17, 2024. JUNE DEADLINES

Exceptional Nurse Scholarships

Eight scholarships of up to $500 will be awarded by ExceptionalNurse.com to qualified students with disabilities to continue their education in a nursing education program. Preference is given to undergraduate students. Applicants must demonstrate a serious commitment to the academic study of nursing and career excellence. This scholarship is not renewable and will only be awarded once. Applicants must be students with a documented disability who have applied to, or already been admitted to, a college or university program on a full-time basis. Details and the application can be found at www.exceptionalnurse.com/scholarship.php. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2024.

Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship Program

Five hundred scholarships at up to $2,500 each are available to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. Applicants must have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential) by July 1, 2024, and be enrolled in an associate’s degree, certificate, or diploma program at a not-for-profit post-secondary institution by September that will lead to employment. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need (applicants must either show family income of $65,000 or less OR prove Pell Grant eligibility) and be a United States citizen. JULY DEADLINES

Live Your Dreams Scholarship The KURU Footwear Live Your Dreams Scholarship was created to help students achieve their dreams by providing financial assistance for their college education. KURU Footwear believes that everyone has the potential to make their dreams a reality. The recipient will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship to be applied to qualified expenses, including undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board for the 2024-2025 academic year. To be eligible, applicants must be a citizen of the US and an incoming full-time freshman, and college sophomores, juniors and seniors entering the Fall 2024 Semester at an accredited college or university, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA and pursuing a degree in education, childhood education, or any teaching-related course. Applicants will submit a 300–500 word essay responding to the following prompt: “Please describe a specific experience that solidified your commitment to wanting to become a teacher. How did this shape your understanding of the impact teachers can have on students' education.” The winning applicant will be announced August 2, 204. Applications are due by July 5, 2024, and can be found at www.kurufootwear.com/pages/scholarship.

Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is fighting through their own loss of a close family member, legal guardian or loved one, and is in need of financial support for their education as they move forward. Applicants will be expected to submit an essay responding to the following: How has the loss of a close family member or loved one caused you to focus on what matters most in your life and what you want to “fight” to achieve? AUGUST DEADLINES

Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship

Sloane Stephens has always been committed to giving back and supporting her community. As she competes at the highest levels of her sport, winning the US Open in 2017 and rising to become the #3 ranked player in the world, she also dedicates her time to charitable efforts with the Sloane Stephens Foundation. She founded the nonprofit in 2013 at the age of 20 to provide more opportunities to underserved children through education and sports. All high school seniors and current undergraduate students who are studying healthcare or attending an HBCU with a 2.5 or higher GPA are eligible to apply. To apply, please share a personal story or experience that highlights your determination to overcome challenges. How has this resilience shaped your character and influenced your pursuit of a career in medicine or attendance at an HBCU? Details can be found at www.sloanestephensfoundation.org/docglo. The deadline to apply is August 1, 2024.

Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship

This college scholarship of $1,500 is awarded to a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, participation and leadership in school activities and work experience, and interest in pursuing a career in the health and fitness related fields. The money may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. Applicants must be a US citizen or legal resident. Your scholarship application MUST be one of the first 1,000 submitted by the deadline date. SEPTEMBER DEADLINES


The Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Recipients will receive funding for the full cost of attendance not already covered by financial aid and the expected family contribution. Recipients will receive funding for the full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation) that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution. An eligible applicants is a high school senior, from at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American/Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American, Pell-eligible, a US citizen, national, or permanent resident, in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 40 scale (or the equivalent), AND  must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university. An ideal candidate will have an outstanding academic record (top 10% of the class), demonstrated leadership ability, and exceptional personal success skills. The National College Match Scholarship is available to low - income high school seniors who have excelled academically. This award provides the full cost of tuition and room and board at some of the nation's most selective colleges. Applications are due by September 26, 2023. Big Future Scholarship

This program is open to seniors in high school. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student

Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university. Current high school seniors who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2024 competition. Male and female students compete separately. Minority/Women in STEM Scholarship

This scholarship aims to support underprivileged students who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM. There are five, $500 awards available. First-generation, low-income students are often underprivileged and underrepresented in the world of higher education, and may come from families living paycheck to paycheck, meaning that they don’t have family resources to pay for college. Additionally, due to their parents not having degrees, it can be overwhelming to navigate college applications, the FAFSA, and other processes.  Any BIPOC and/or female high school senior or undergraduate who is a first-generation, low-income student interested in STEM may apply for this scholarship. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program

This is the largest undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend top four-year colleges and universities. In addition to the monetary award, recipients receive comprehensive educational advising, significant cohort-based programming, and graduate school funding, as well as a thriving network of nearly 3,200 fellow Cooke Scholars and Alumni. Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive. This award is a highly competitive scholarship and includes up to $55,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school, personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid, and advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience. Applicants must be a senior planning to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2024, intending to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2024, earn a minimum, cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above, and demonstrate unmet financial need. Frito-Lay Community Builder Scholarship

The maker of America’s favorite snacks, Frito-Lay established this scholarship to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Frito-Lay is looking to support students who are giving back in their own communities and helping to lead us all to a brighter future. Applicants to the Frito-Lay Community Builder Scholarship must live in the United States, be a high school senior or graduate or current college undergraduate who plans to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in the U.S. at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year, have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent). Council of Administrator of Compensatory Education (CACE) Scholarships

These awards will provide $2,000 scholarships for three graduating seniors who have been accepted into a postsecondary undergraduate program. CACE awards will be awarded to graduating seniors who attend CACE member districts, including New Bedford.  The eligibility requirements for this scholarship are demonstrated need and that the applicant participated in a Title I funded Targeted Assistance Program or Schoolwide Program for at least one academic year, at any grade level. The applicant must be an individual who expects to graduate from high school in 2023 and expects to be accepted for admission to a post-secondary undergraduate program. The Bulchand & Laxmi Motwani Memorial Scholarship

This $2,000 award commemorates the lives of the late Bulchand G. Motwani and his wife, Laxmi Motwani. Together, as teenagers with their young children, they courageously fled religious persecution, seeking safety and a better future. After establishing a successful pharmaceutical business in India, they relocated their family to America, driven by the pursuit of greater opportunities. They left behind a remarkable legacy that extends to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This scholarship aims to honor the enduring spirit of the late Bulchand and Laxmi Motwani, their unwavering commitment to education, service, and entrepreneurship. All high school, undergraduate, and graduate students pursuing a career in pharmacy or science are eligible to apply. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, individuals from immigrant backgrounds and those who have overcome significant challenges are particularly welcomed. This program awards 500, $20,000 scholarships. Eligible applicants must participate in a program-approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12 (such as Upward Bound or Gear Up), be on track to graduate from an accredited high school in the current academic year, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance, be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant in first year of college, plan to enroll full time at an accredited higher education institution in the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in the fall directly following high school graduation, and earn a minimum of a 2.4 GPA. National Space Club Scholarship

This $15,000 award will go to a senior who has the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and is open to seniors in high school through graduate students. The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space related interests. Burger King Scholars Program

Created in memory of Burger King Co-Founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the Burger King Scholars program provides scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 to high school students and BK employees and their families. The application process takes into consideration grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service. Eligible applicants must be living in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada, be graduating high school seniors (U.S., Puerto Rico or Guam), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from homeschool education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada, have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, and plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or CEGEP or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada. National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering

NACME is responsible for over $5 million in scholarships awarded annually to underrepresented minority (URM) students. NACME supports approximately 1,000 underrepresented minority engineering and computer students annually. Eligible students must either be a high school senior, within one year of graduating from high school, or matriculating at a community college with the intent to pursue an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, or be currently matriculating in an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, a US citizen or permanent resident, and meet the minimum GPA requirements of the relevant scholarship. NACME's mission is to increase representation of Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic-American and Native/American Indian in the fields of engineering and computer science. Challenge Yourself Scholarship

Attorney Greg Gold and the Colorado legal team at The Gold Law Firm provide five scholarship awards each semester to first-time college freshmen within the United States, in memory of Kevin Maez (1986-2022). Each award is worth $1,000, and awards will be mailed directly to the winning students’ financial aid offices. The awards will go to students who have spent their early education taking part in challenging skill-building activities such as Scouts, acting or theater, debate club, and speech. Through The Gold Law Firm Challenge Yourself Scholarship, our team hopes to make educational opportunities more attainable for students who make an effort to improve as individuals both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to a history of participating in one or more of these activities, all eligible applicants must be planning to attend or have already enrolled in an accredited college or university as an incoming freshman. Equitable Excellence® Scholarship Program

Equitable Foundation has established this program to assist high school seniors who are planning to continue their education at a two- or four-year college in the United States by Fall 2024. Applicants must be current high school seniors in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year, demonstrate ambition and self-drive to be a force for good in school, community or work activities, be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their achievements along with photographs for use in program promotion and information, and have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The foundation awards 100 $5000 renewable scholarships (totaling $20,000 over four years) and 100 $2,500 one-time awards for immediate costs. AIAA Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson Scholarship

AIAA Roger W. Kahn Scholarship

This award was created to honor the memory of Roger Kahn (1907–1962) and his passion for aviation and entertainment. Kahn spent the latter part of his career at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation as a test pilot and then managed the technical service and sales division. In the 1940s, Kahn was actively involved with the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences (one of the predecessor organizations of AIAA) and later served as its vice president. Kahn also was an accomplished jazz musician as early as the 1920s, composing songs often featured in stage productions and early films, as well as leading numerous orchestras. He became a recording artist for some of the first record labels including Victor, Brunswick, and Columbia. AIAA is awarding up to four $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors who enroll in an engineering major at a college or university! The Power of Resilience Scholarship

Scott has devoted his career to advocating for the rights of insurance policyholders and fighting for them to receive what they deserve- justice in the face of terrifying situations. Scott has established a $1,000 scholarship with the purpose of supporting a student. To apply, students should write an essay discussing a personal crisis and what lessons they learned from that experience both in their own personal life and in the larger community. The essay should discuss how resilience can be used to recover from a destructive situation. Eligible applicants should be in either high school or college (undergraduate or graduate program) and must show good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0. The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, train skilled tradespeople to fill the labor gap and support communities impacted by natural disasters. The Foundation has pledged to invest $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople and bridging the opportunity gap through its Path to Pro program, by providing scholarships to further education. An eligible applicant must: be a high school senior, high school graduate or have a GED equivalent, plan to enroll, or be enrolled, in an approved trade-related program at an accredited two-year school (technical/vocational school or college) in the United States, not be an employee or dependent of an employee of the The Home Depot. Taco Bell Foundation Live Más Scholarship The Live Más Scholarship is available to innovators, creators, and dreamers between the ages of 16 and 24. To be considered, you must create and submit a film, animation, or a simple testimonial of up to two minutes in length that tells the story of your life's passion. Taco Bell Foundation Live Más Scholarship for Taco Bell Employees
The Live Más Scholarship Program is open to students who are employees of Taco Bell. To be considered, you must submit a two-minute video that tells the story of your life's passion. The Foundation will issue 55 awards from $5,000-$10,000. The Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship winners will be announced in April. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

This award provides generous four-year scholarships (uo to $35,000 over four years) and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs.

To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must be a graduating, minority high school senior, be a United States citizen, demonstrate evidence of financial need, academic excellence, leadership potential and a dedication to community service. They also must plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university, and have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college. Among other things, the application requires multiple essays as well as completion of the CSS profile (a specific financial aid application). The application must be submitted by January 10, 2023 and can be found at jackierobinson.org/scholarship.


Fidelity Scholars Program

This program offers a scholarship for living expenses and education to fill the gap after financial aid. It is open to historically underserved and underrepresented students between 16 and 24 years of age who are permanent residents of specific states, including Massachusetts. Eligible students must have between a 2.5 and 3.5 unweighted GPA or GED, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a four-year accredited college or university in the state of residence and an incoming freshman for the 2024-24 school year. Massachusetts Elks Scholarships

The Massachusetts Elks offers grants to students who demonstrate financial need, scholarship aptitude and good citizenship. These awards are renewable, but recipients must reapply each year for consideration. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2024. The MA Elks Scholarship is for students who will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a four year institution. This application is due to the local lodge by January 15, 2024. Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship

The computer science field is one of the fastest growing and most lucrative industries, but there’s a stark lack of diversity when it comes to both people and ideas. This scholarship will support the next generation of multi-faceted computer scientists, with a special focus on coders, by providing financial assistance to diverse students who want to combine computer science with their other passions to pave a unique path towards enriching our world and its technology. LGBTQIA+, Women, and/or BIPOC students who are majoring in computer science and are also pursuing other interests may apply. To apply, you will need to write about your computer science goals, your non-computer science goals, and how you might combine these goals in the future. Applications are due by January 15, 2024. Mensa US Scholarship

There are 178 awards of $2,500. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program in an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning during the academic year following the application date and submit an application and essay explaining his or her career, academic and/or vocational goals. Completed applications include an essay of not more than 550 words explaining their career, academic and/or vocational goals and how they plan to achieve those goals. Collegium Pharmaceutical Scholarship Program

Collegium Pharmaceutical will award two full-ride scholarships to Massachusetts-based high school seniors pursuing a STEM-related major at a U.S. university. Applicants to the Collegium Pharmaceutical Scholarship Program must be a high school senior or graduate who is entering their first year of undergraduate education, be a legal resident of the state of Massachusetts, plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States the entire upcoming academic year, pursue a degree in STEM** (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The organization may select up to two recipients, and the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, assuming continued eligibility. Mass. JCI Senate Scholarship Program

Two awards of $1,000, for graduating seniors who are continuing their education. The State winners will be forwarded to the National JCI Senate and will be eligible for additional $ 1500.00 scholarships. Diversity Advancement Scholarship

Since 1970, the Diversity Advancement Scholarship has been awarded to help build a pipeline of architects so that the profession better reflects the diverse communities they serve. Architects Foundation is working to attract, inspire and invest in the next generation of the profession with a multiyear scholarship of up to $20,000. Eligible students must be a US citizen or permanent resident and be a high school student planning to enroll in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program, a rising second-year college student in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program or a technical school or community college student who has completed high school or its equivalent and intends to transfer to a NAAB-accredited architecture program. Breanna Coleman Memorial Nursing Scholarship

This $2,500 scholarship is in memory of Breanna Coleman, who lost her life in a  car accident in June, just a few months before she was to start nursing school. This scholarship seeks to honor her life by supporting students who share her passion for nursing and helping others.

Any high school senior who will be a first-generation college student pursuing a four-year degree in nursing may apply for this scholarship if they have volunteering and extracurricular involvement. Applicants will need to write about what inspired you to study nursing and how you currently give back to your community, and/or how you will give back in the future. St. Anne's Credit Union Scholarship Program

Union Plus Scholarship

This scholarship supports students of working families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. These $4000 scholarships will be awarded to current or retired members of a participating union, their spouse or a dependent child. The union member (applicant, applicant's spouse or parent) must have at least one year of continuous union membership. Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship

Sallie Mae Scholarship

Sallie Mae will award 12 scholarships of $3,000 each. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be enrolled as a high school senior or a student enrolled at an accredited college or university located within the United States and carry a GPA of at least 2.5. Henry Thoreau Scholarship

The Henry David Thoreau Foundation identifies and supports outstanding young leaders from Massachusetts who are committed to safeguarding the environmental welfare of future generations. We call them Henry David Thoreau Scholars. Each year, the Foundation selects eight to ten top-ranking high school seniors from Massachusetts who demonstrate the potential for environmental leadership and intend to pursue interdisciplinary environmental studies in college.  Each scholar receives a four-year scholarship of up to $25,000. In addition, Thoreau Scholars are eligible for an environmental internship stipend, which usually takes place between junior and senior year. Applications must be received by February 1, 2024. Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers will award 60 scholarships of $20,000 each. Eligible applicants are  a graduating high school senior, current undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolling as part- time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the Fall of 2024 and has a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or 70 on a 100 point scale. Massachusetts Daughters of the American Revolution, Inc.

Candidates for this scholarship must be a resident of Massachusetts and have a weighted GPA of at least 3.0 and plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards

Community Leaders Scholarship

Eligible applicants are low to medium income (household annual family income of $100,000 or less), demonstrated interest in service to their community with a history of volunteer work or other forms of community involvement, enrolled in or planning to enter a program in criminal justice or law enforcement, and be at least 17 years of age. Texting and Driving Prevention Scholarship

This is a $1,000 scholarship opportunity that is intended to spur creative solutions to the distracted driving epidemic that is affecting the entire country. Applicants must write a 750-word minimum essay that explores the ways that you can prevent yourself and other people from texting behind the wheel. Besides discussing your personal relationship with this issue, applicants should outline solutions and prevention tips to improve the safety of everyone on the road. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be about to enroll or currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, or community college in the United States, and have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. McDonald's Hacer National Scholarship McDonald’s is awarding up to 30 McDonald’s HACER National Scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 to help students of Hispanic/Latino heritage continue their educational growth. Applications will be reviewed by an independent selection committee that will take many things into consideration including academic performance, community involvement, personal statements, and financial need. The Charitable and Educational Trust of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America

A maximum of twenty $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded. Additional scholarships of varying amounts provided by special donors will also be awarded. Massachusetts Tree Wardens & Foresters Association

Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500 per student. HBCU Week X NFL Scholarship Seniors who plan to attend a Historically Black College or University for the entirety of their college education should consider applying for the HBCU Week X NFL Scholarship. There are seven $10,000 awards. Eligible students are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. Nick Lindblad Memorial Scholarship This $3,500 award in memory of Nick Lindblad recognizes a student who has a love for music and has been involved musically throughout high school may apply for this scholarship To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a graduating high school senior and have been involved in music throughout their high school career. Black American Engineering Scholarship

Recipients will receive up to $10,000 per school year, to be used for tuition, books, fees and/or room & board. It is open to students pursuing careers in the classical engineering fields of civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering, including any subfield of those disciplines. The award includes the opportunity to receive mentoring from successful business professionals. Recipients can re-apply for up to 4 years. Successful applicants are Black American, incoming college freshman/current high school senior, or a student transferring from a two-year program into a four-year program, eligible for Federal Pell Grant funding, able to show proven financial need, a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. Students must be enrolling in an accredited, not-for-profit four-year institution, pursuing a degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, including any subfield of those disciplines. The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity

This award, honoring Julie Schoo, consists of a $5,000 one-year scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship, named for the former executive director of the National Press Club Journalism institute, is to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The award can be renewed up to three years, for a total of $20,000 toward educational expenses. To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior in the process of applying for admission to an accredited college or university in the U.S., have a 3.0 grade-point average or higher; and plan to pursue a career in journalism. Gordon A. Rich Memorial Scholarship

Nine awards of $50,000 each are available for the Gordon A. Rich Memorial Scholarship.The Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation (“GAR”) was created to honor the memory of Gordon Rich. GAR's mission is to award grants to support the higher education goals of its recipients. The recipients of GAR scholarships are exceptionally qualified high school students with demonstrated financial need whose parents or guardians have, or had, a career in the financial services industry. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a graduating high school senior who plans to enroll as a full time student in pursuit of a four-year bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States and have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and rank in the top 20% of their class. P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle And You) Scholars Helping Collars

Students from across the U.S. are invited to apply for P.L.A.Y.’s annual Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship. This $1,500 scholarship rewards one student who can tell the best story, describing the impact he or she made in the life of a rescue animal or animal welfare cause in general. The Coast Guard Exchange Scholarship Program

 This program was established to provide additional financial resources to dependent children of Coast Guard personnel embarking on undergraduate college/university studies. This scholarship, designed just for women, offers between $1000 and $5,000 to a woman who is pursuing, or plans to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance, and who have a GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Harold Rothman Business Scholarship

Sponsored by the Rossen Law Firm, the award supports ambitious individuals who are ready to leave an unforgettable mark on the business world. As a law firm rooted in Florida, we firmly believe in the transformative power of education and its ability to shape the future of the business industry. This $1,000 scholarship has an application deadline of February 29, 2024, $1,000. Applicants will create a video that shows how you plan to rock the business world with your unique education and skills. Videos must be at least two minutes. Jack Terry Memorial Scholarship

 This scholarship aims to honor the life of Dr. Jack Terry by supporting students who have overcome hardships or adversity in their lives. Jack Terry was born in Poland in 1930, lost his entire family in the Holocaust and struggled to survive three Nazi Concentration Camps. At the end of the war, an American Army officer found Jack alone in the camp and arranged for him to come to the United States. Jack was then 15 years old, had no more than an elementary school education, and did not speak English. Yet, he worked hard through high school and college, became a geological engineer, and later went to medical school and became a psychoanalyst. He also served in the US Army, became an accomplished athlete, and was a beloved father and grandfather. Later in life, Jack devoted much of his time to sharing his story with students, spreading knowledge and hope.

Merrimack Valley & Bridgewater Credit Unions Scholarship Program

Graduating seniors in the Merrimack Valley and South Shore regions are eligible and do not need membership with the credit unions to apply. Information Security Undergraduate Scholarship

Donald and Barbara Mozley Scholarship

This award provides support for students pursuing an engineering degree at an ABET-accredited college or university. Tau Beta Pi Engineering Scholarship Tau Beta Pi Association, the engineering honor society, is the world's largest engineering society. The purpose of the Tau Beta Pi is to recognize engineering students of superior scholarship and exemplary character and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges. Headquartered in Knoxville, TN, the Association's largest national philanthropy is its fellowship program, which has provided $7,809,000 in advanced-study grants to 1,706 students, and the scholarship program that has provided $6,557,000 in awards to 3,369 engineering seniors. TheDream.US Scholarship

TheDream.US scholarships cover the full cost of tuition and fees for highly motivated undocumented students who are eligible to receive in-state tuition in their home state (not applicable if attending a private institution) but still have significant, unmet financial need. They have no access to federal aid and limited access to state aid. Salem State University and University of Massachusetts Boston are partner schools. American Chemical Society Scholars Program The ACS Scholars Program awards renewable scholarships to undergraduate students from historically underrepresented groups in the chemical sciences, majoring in chemistry-related disciplines, and intending to pursue chemistry-related careers. Massachusetts Elks Vocational Scholarship

The MA Elks Vocational Scholarship is for students who are going to school full time in a non-bachelor’s degree/vocational program. The applicant needs to to be attending a vocational/technical school, a junior college, or a community college working on a one- or two-year program of studies that will further his/her education culminating in an associate degree, diploma or certificate is less than a bachelor’s degree. Columbus Citizens Foundation

Hagan Scholarship Foundation

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Scholarships

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a child or stepchild of an Active duty, Reserve, or veteran U.S. Marine, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through a family adjusted gross income of $117,000, and be planning to attend an accredited school that is eligible for federal funding. National Italian American Foundation Scholarship

This organization will award $12,000 to 200 qualified applicants. Applicants must have an active NIAF Membership, or be the child or grandchild of an active member. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be enrolled in a US accredited institution of higher education on a full-time basis for the Fall 2024 semester and have a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent). Military Benefit Association Scholarship

The Military Benefit Association has established a scholarship program to assist members' dependent children and spouses, along with National Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans who are members and who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at any accredited institution of the student's choice. This year, MBA will award up to 25, $3,000 college scholarships for the Academic Year 2024. Eligible applicants include high school seniors who are enrolling full-time as an undergraduate student at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational-technical school in the Fall of 2024, have a 2.5 grade point average, and are the unmarried, dependent child under age 26 of an MBA member. Rockland Trust Scholarship

Rockland Trust awards 16 renewable scholarships of $3,000 each for students entering college for the first time with a 2.5 minimum GPA. Applications will be considered based on financial need, academic performance, participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, and unusual personal or family circumstances. Microsoft Disability Scholarship To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be a current high school senior living with a disability (as defined by WHO), whether that be visual, hearing, mobility, cognitive, speech or other disability. The applicant must plan to enroll in an undergraduate program at an accredited 2 or 4-year University/College or Vocational/Technical School, in the United States, in the fall of the upcoming academic year, and pursue a degree in the following eligible majors: engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field (e.g. paralegal, pre-law, finance, business administration, or marketing). Applicants should demonstrate a passion for technology and demonstrate leadership at school and/or in the community. Recipient will receive a $5,000 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted. Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, full-time or half-time enrollment, and continued enrollment in the eligible major. Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship

BAM is dedicated to supporting the continued growth and development of black employees and encouraging students to pursue a career in technology. The BAM Scholarship was created to enable Black and African American students to attend college and pursue a career in technology.  The goal is to empower future generations to do and be more. Applicants must be a US-based high school senior of African descent (for example, African American, African, Ethiopian, etc.), planning to attend a four-year college or university in the US in the fall immediately following your high school graduation, pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business administration, or marketing), with financial need. Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation

This foundation was created to help deserving young men and women excel in their quest to improve themselves, their school or their community. This organization awards annual grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 as specifically requested for school tuition, summer programs and other appropriate extracurricular activities. Any Massachusetts high school student is eligible. The scholarship is not academically based, but is awarded on the basis of need. The committee is looking for exceptional leaders and people who have proven this leadership within their school. In addition, the committee will give more serious consideration to those students who have made efforts to make a difference in their communities. Stern Family Charitable Trust

The Stern Family Charitable Trust is proud to offer an annual Educational Scholarship for Perseverance.  This scholarship is awarded to an individual student who has shown perseverance and integrity all while having proven to overcome obstacles, adversity, and hardship in achieving their primary education. The scholarship is awarded for education to a Massachusetts resident for attending a 4 year Bachelors program, a 2 year Associates program, or other skilled professional Certification program.  The scholarship is intended to support students for the full duration of their program and will be awarded annually as long as the student continually meets the award requirements. Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club

Applicants must be a graduating senior from an area high school and must be planning to attend an institution of higher education.  Applicants are not required to be members of WRGC.  Applicants with interest in environmental sciences and related majors may receive preference. New Bedford Civil War Roundtable Book Award

This award is in the amount of $500 and is a book award. Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women, Inc. – Bristol Chapter This scholarship is open to all graduating seniors living in or attending high school in Bristol County who are applying for enrollment at a four-year accredited college or university. Discovery Museum Announces 2024 Scholarship Program

The opportunity is open to high school juniors and seniors in MA, funds can be used for any educational or developmental experience. The 2023 Discovery Museum Scholarship program will award four one-time $1,500 scholarships to high school juniors or seniors in MA who embody the mission and values of the Museum, to support them on the next leg of their educational journeys. For one of the four awards, preference will be given to Discovery Museum past or current employees or volunteers. Award money can be used for any educational or developmental experience, such as college or trade school tuition, travel expenses to support an exciting volunteer opportunity, or costs to provide a learning experience for young children. Three $2,500 awards will be provided to students pursuing degrees that will lead to manufacturing careers. Eligible applicants are currently enrolled in or entering a certificate or degree program which leads to a manufacturing career on a full-time basis (12 or more credit hours), and have a 2.5 GPA for trade, community, or technical colleges or 3.0 GPA for universities. Kochhar & Co. Scholarship This award has a value of $1,000. Eligible applicants must be attending college or university on a full-time or part-time basis no later than September 2023, have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year, and be a resident of one of the United States or Canada. It is not necessary to be enrolled in a specific major. Applicants must submit an essay of under 1000 words, answering one of the following questions: "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for a Company?" or "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for an Individual?" Airmen Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program

The AMF conducts scholarship programs to financially assist the undergraduate studies of eligible dependents of military personnel. AMF/CMSAF/AFSA scholarships are valued from $1,000 to $5,000 to students age 23 or younger attending an accredited academic institution. To be eligible, a student must be an unmarried child/adopted or stepchild of active duty, retired or veteran member of USAF, ANG or AFRC, be age 23 years or younger, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. High school seniors or full-time college students may apply. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted to an accredited college/university, and dependent upon their parent or guardian for over 1/2 of his/her support. CMP Scholarship Program

The CMP will present not just one, but FOUR $5,000 scholarships that will be renewable for 4 years (Total value of each scholarship awarded: $20,000). The “Carolyn Hines Memorial Scholarship” will be awarded to the top graduating senior who best exemplifies Dr. Hines’ ideals. Three additional scholarships will be awarded to top seniors to commemorate the retirement of longtime CMP Board members who were all devoted to sustaining youth activities. The overall applicants will be determined by members of the CMP Scholarship Committee. The remaining CMP Scholarships are one-year awards that may be used to fund any accredited secondary education, technical/trade school or vocational program. CMP Scholarships may also be used to pursue a post-secondary education during the upcoming school year. The scholarships are paid directly to the scholarship recipient. The check may then be used to pay other fees or expenses that are not covered by other awards or grants. The CMP seeks applications from high school seniors who currently compete in marksmanship competitions. Based on merit, selected individuals are high school seniors who are currently enrolled in a team or club that is participating in marksmanship competitions. To be eligible for CMP scholarships, junior shooters must be a U.S. Citizen, be of good moral character, be a graduating high school senior, demonstrate acceptance to a university, college or trade school leading to a diploma or trade certification and demonstrate marksmanship competition experience. Prince Henry Society New Bedford Chapter Scholarship
To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors from the greater New Bedford area with some Portuguese descent seeking an undergraduate or associate degree from an accredited college/university. Applicants must electronically submit a copy of their transcript, at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, etc., and a copy of your college acceptance letter. Several awards offered have specific criteria that applicants must meet in order to qualify:

1.  A parishioner in good standing of the Immaculate Conception Church.

2. A student from NBHS pursuing a law degree, with preference given to a Boston University candidate.

3. Three scholarships are reserved for students pursuing a career in medicine.

4. A student, athlete, preference given to a NBHS soccer player.

5. A female student pursuing a career in education.

6. A student who attended the “Carlos Pacheco Elementary School” in New Bedford.

7. A student enrolled in a pre-dental program.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship

AFA’s Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship provides educational funding to college-bound high school seniors who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Applicants must complete an essay of no more than 1,500 words or submit a video no longer than four minutes long, describing the impact of Alzheimer’s disease/dementia-related illness on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned from it. The National Catholic College Admissions Association First-Year Scholarship Application

The National CCAA First-Year Scholarship is awarded to 16 randomly selected students from various geographic regions who attend one of the 116 member institutions in fall 2024. The scholarship is a one-time, $1,000 award. Additional information, including the list of member institutions and this year's application is available at www.catholiccollegesonline.org. Azorean Maritime Heritage Scholarship This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from the Class of 2024.  A total of eight scholarships will be awarded to the surrounding community. Applicants will need to write an essay illustrating one of the following: your commitment to the community, your appreciation for Azorean culture, or your relationship to the sea such as boating, marine studies, fishing, or other water activities. Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship Fifty-eight (58) scholarships of $3,500 are awarded each academic year to help childhood cancer survivors achieve their academic and professional goals. Eligible applicants are childhood cancer survivors under the age of 25 and diagnosed before the age of 18 with cancer or a high grade or anaplastic brain tumor,  citizens of the United States living within the country and attending school in the U.S., and accepted into a post-secondary school for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year. S. Sacramento Charitable Foundation, Inc. presents up to thirty $1000 scholarship awards to graduating high school students. Scholarships available to graduating seniors seeking an undergraduate or associate degree from an accredited college or university or seeking a certificate of completion from an accredited trade school. Awards are available in three categories: Open Category: Available to all candidates; Portuguese Category: Available to Portuguese descendant candidates; Madeiran Heritage Category: Available to Madeiran descendant candidates. Tyler Joseph Leonard Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Tyler Joseph Leonard, a 2007 graduate of Dartmouth High School and 2014 graduate of Bridgewater State University. He loved playing guitar, was a self-taught keyboard and harmonica player, and performed with The Dancer's Edge Dance Company for many years. Tyler is remembered as  a fun-loving funny person whose smile could light up a room. Applications can be found here and are due by April 1, 2024.

Friendly Sons of St Patrick General Scholarship

This organization is offering two awards. A general scholarship of $1000 is available to deserving students in the Greater New Bedford area. Applicants must include a personal statement regarding why this scholarship will be helpful and how it will help the applicant achieve his/her postsecondary goals. A $2000 Irish Heritage scholarship is also available. Applicants must respond to the following essay question in 1500-1800 words: Describe the legacy of John Hume in Ireland and around the world. Southcoast Health Ambassadors

Twenty-five $1500 scholarships are available for high-ranking high school seniors furthering their education in the healthcare field (healthcare is defined as any area of study related to the medical field). Greater New Bedford Garden Club

Two $2000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who are residents of the Greater New Bedford area. Applicants must be enrolling in a four year college to study agriculture, horticulture, conservation,  landscape architecture, horticulture , forestry, conservation or environmental science. Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc.

This organization offers several scholarships for undergraduate students (including high school seniors who will be freshmen in the Fall), and graduate students who will be attending accredited colleges and universities. Scholarships are available for students majoring in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape design or architecture, Conservation, Forestry, agronomy, City planning, Environmental studies, Land management, Botany, Biology and allied subjects. Applicants must have maintained a legal residence in Massachusetts for at least one year, have a minimum "B" average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale), have good character, and have financial need. Foundation for Fraternal Excellence Men's College Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities, and community involvement. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating high school senior who is enrolling in a four-year undergraduate college program that commences in the fall. The scholarship is awarded through the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence, a registered 501(c)3 organization. Current or future membership in a fraternity is not required. New Bedford Day of Portugal Scholarship

This award is available to any graduating high school senior seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or an applicant currently in an undergraduate program attending an accredited college or university. A completed application includes an essay that responds to the following two questions: What does your Portuguese heritage mean to you? How would you promote in the future the Portuguese language, culture and traditions in our community for future generations? To download the application, visit this site. Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarships from this fund are awarded every year to over 150 new applicants, as well as 300 returning, to assist in making college more accessible by removing financial barriers. Awards range from $2,000 to as high as $17,000, based on each applicant’s unmet need and are renewable each year, for students who maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. The average award each year is between $6,000 to $10,000. Open to students with significant financial need Awards are limited to residents of New England states only. Applications and details are available online at www.phillips-scholarship.org/apply. The website provides details about financial eligibility, including a calculator to determine if you qualify. Please note, there is an early response deadline of April 3, 2024. This is for students who have the financial information from the college they prefer to attend by this date. Our Lady of Angels Catholic Association

Hawthorn Medical 

Hawthorn Medical will be offering $2,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue education in the healthcare field at an accredited program in 2024-25. Details and the application may be found at Hawthornmed.com/scholarship-program. The application requires an essay describing reason for pursuing the particular area of study, any academic accomplishments, employment or volunteer activities related to the chosen area of study, and any financial issues that could be an obstacle. Applications are due by April 5, 2024.

Saint Julie’s Ladies Guild Scholarship

Any high school senior who has been accepted into a school of higher learning with a minimum of a two year program and is a registered member of St. Julie’s Parish who has served in a ministry or completed hours of service may apply.
