PLEASE NOTE: There are many excellent search engines that help students seek scholarship opportunities. This list includes awards that have been sent to NBPS, directly or indirectly, but cannot be considered a comprehensive list of all of the college scholarships that exist. Our website displays awards with upcoming deadlines. However, once the deadlines have passed, previous awards will be listed here. This list can give younger students, and their caregivers, ideas about what scholarships may be available for them when they are preparing to attend college. There is no guarantee that these awards will be available in future years. These awards are all external to New Bedford Public Schools.
There is a specific application for NBHS scholarships. That application is posted on the scholarship website during the period of time that students may apply. This year, that window is mid-February to mid-April.

SEPTEMBER DEADLINES
The Gates Scholarship
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Recipients will receive funding for the full cost of attendance not already covered by financial aid and the expected family contribution. Recipients will receive funding for the full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board, books, and transportation) that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution. An eligible applicants is a high school senior, from at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American/Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American, Pell-eligible, a US citizen, national, or permanent resident, in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 40 scale (or the equivalent), AND must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university. An ideal candidate will have an outstanding academic record (top 10% of the class), demonstrated leadership ability, and exceptional personal success skills. National College Match
The National College Match Scholarship is available to low - income high school seniors who have excelled academically. This award provides the full cost of tuition and room and board at some of the nation's most selective colleges. Applications are due by September 26, 2023. Big Future Scholarship
This program is open to seniors in high school. By completing a college planning step using your College Board account, you will automatically earn a chance to win a $500 scholarship and an additional chance to win a $40,000 scholarship. It’s easy to enter scholarship drawings each month. Simply complete one of the steps before the deadline, and you’ll be automatically entered to win $40,000. Shout It Out Scholarship
You must be at least 14 years old and a legal U.S. resident to apply for this $1500 scholarship. In 250 words or less, answer the question, "If you could say one thing to the entire world at once, what would it be and why?" Applications are due by September 30, 2023. Too Cool to Pay for School Scholarship

Don't Text and Drive Scholarship

Key Thinkers Scholarship
Write an essay between 500 and 750 words on what financial responsibility means to you and what steps students should take to plan their budgets to be considered for this $1,000 award. Golden Door Scholarship
Applications are now open for this tuition, room and board scholarship for undocumented students. In addition to financial support, this program provides career readiness programming and mentoring. There are 20 selective colleges that are Golden Door partners. For more information, visit www.goldendoorscholars.org. Applications are due by October 1, 2023.
Coca-Cola Scholars Program
This program awards 150, 420,000 scholarships to current high school students who will graduate during the 2023-2024 year and who are U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees - based on the guidelines utilized by the U.S. Department of Education. an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Recipients are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Top of the Mountain Memorial Scholarship
Two, $5000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or undergraduate students who are dedicated to making a difference. Ideal applicants have worked, interned, or volunteered in environmental causes. Preference will be given to STEM majors. An essay is required. NOVEMBER DEADLINES
Sustainability Essay Contest College Scholarship
Write an essay about sustainability for a chance at a $1000 college scholarship. Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded to high school students. Participating students will learn about sustainability in the construction industry, develop research skills to understand a problem and why it’s important, think creatively about a solution and argue a case for it, and consider the roadblocks to getting solutions in place. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student
Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university. Current high school seniors who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2024 competition. Male and female students compete separately. Minority/Women in STEM Scholarship
This scholarship aims to support underprivileged students who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM. There are five, $500 awards available. First-generation, low-income students are often underprivileged and underrepresented in the world of higher education, and may come from families living paycheck to paycheck, meaning that they don’t have family resources to pay for college. Additionally, due to their parents not having degrees, it can be overwhelming to navigate college applications, the FAFSA, and other processes. Any BIPOC and/or female high school senior or undergraduate who is a first-generation, low-income student interested in STEM may apply for this scholarship. To apply, tell us about some challenges you’ve overcome while pursuing your education and how you hope to benefit the world through your STEM education. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program
This is the largest undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend top four-year colleges and universities. In addition to the monetary award, recipients receive comprehensive educational advising, significant cohort-based programming, and graduate school funding, as well as a thriving network of nearly 3,200 fellow Cooke Scholars and Alumni. Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive. This award is a highly competitive scholarship and includes up to $55,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school, personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid, and advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience. Applicants must be a senior planning to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2024, intending to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2024, earn a minimum, cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above, and demonstrate unmet financial need. Frito-Lay Community Builder Scholarship
The maker of America’s favorite snacks, Frito-Lay established this scholarship to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Frito-Lay is looking to support students who are giving back in their own communities and helping to lead us all to a brighter future. Applicants to the Frito-Lay Community Builder Scholarship must live in the United States, be a high school senior or graduate or current college undergraduate who plans to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in the U.S. at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year, have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent). Four 25,000 awards will be granted. Applications are due by November 20, 2023. Council of Administrator of Compensatory Education (CACE) Scholarships
These awards will provide $2,000 scholarships for three graduating seniors who have been accepted into a postsecondary undergraduate program. CACE awards will be awarded to graduating seniors who attend CACE member districts, including New Bedford. The eligibility requirements for this scholarship are demonstrated need and that the applicant participated in a Title I funded Targeted Assistance Program or Schoolwide Program for at least one academic year, at any grade level. The applicant must be an individual who expects to graduate from high school in 2023 and expects to be accepted for admission to a post-secondary undergraduate program. The Bulchand & Laxmi Motwani Memorial Scholarship
This $2,000 award commemorates the lives of the late Bulchand G. Motwani and his wife, Laxmi Motwani. Together, as teenagers with their young children, they courageously fled religious persecution, seeking safety and a better future. After establishing a successful pharmaceutical business in India, they relocated their family to America, driven by the pursuit of greater opportunities. They left behind a remarkable legacy that extends to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This scholarship aims to honor the enduring spirit of the late Bulchand and Laxmi Motwani, their unwavering commitment to education, service, and entrepreneurship. All high school, undergraduate, and graduate students pursuing a career in pharmacy or science are eligible to apply. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, individuals from immigrant backgrounds and those who have overcome significant challenges are particularly welcomed. Applicants are invited to share their personal stories of triumph over adversity. An essay is required. DECEMBER DEADLINES
Dells Scholars Program
This program awards 500, $20,000 scholarships. Eligible applicants must participate in a program-approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12 (such as Upward Bound or Gear Up), be on track to graduate from an accredited high school in the current academic year, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance, be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant in first year of college, plan to enroll full time at an accredited higher education institution in the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in the fall directly following high school graduation, and earn a minimum of a 2.4 GPA. National Space Club Scholarship
This $15,000 award will go to a senior who has the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and is open to seniors in high school through graduate students. The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space related interests. Burger King Scholars Program
Created in memory of Burger King Co-Founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the Burger King Scholars program provides scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 to high school students and BK employees and their families. The application process takes into consideration grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service. Eligible applicants must be living in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada, be graduating high school seniors (U.S., Puerto Rico or Guam), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from homeschool education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada, have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, and plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school or CEGEP or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada. Amazon Future Engineers Scholarship
Amazon will choose 400 high school seniors across the nation to receive $40,000 for college and a guaranteed engineering internship at Amazon following their freshman year. National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering
NACME is responsible for over $5 million in scholarships awarded annually to underrepresented minority (URM) students. NACME supports approximately 1,000 underrepresented minority engineering and computer students annually. Eligible students must either be a high school senior, within one year of graduating from high school, or matriculating at a community college with the intent to pursue an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, or be currently matriculating in an engineering or computer science program at a NACME Partner Institution, a US citizen or permanent resident, and meet the minimum GPA requirements of the relevant scholarship. NACME's mission is to increase representation of Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic-American and Native/American Indian in the fields of engineering and computer science. There are 1000 awards available. Applications are due by December 16, 2023, and can be found at www.nacme.org/nacme-scholarships.
Challenge Yourself Scholarship
Attorney Greg Gold and the Colorado legal team at The Gold Law Firm provide five scholarship awards each semester to first-time college freshmen within the United States, in memory of Kevin Maez (1986-2022). Each award is worth $1,000, and awards will be mailed directly to the winning students’ financial aid offices. The awards will go to students who have spent their early education taking part in challenging skill-building activities such as Scouts, acting or theater, debate club, and speech. Through The Gold Law Firm Challenge Yourself Scholarship, our team hopes to make educational opportunities more attainable for students who make an effort to improve as individuals both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to a history of participating in one or more of these activities, all eligible applicants must be planning to attend or have already enrolled in an accredited college or university as an incoming freshman. The student must also hold citizenship or permanent residency within the United States and be at least 17 years of age upon applying for the scholarship. Equitable Excellence® Scholarship Program
Equitable Foundation has established this program to assist high school seniors who are planning to continue their education at a two- or four-year college in the United States by Fall 2024. Applicants must be current high school seniors in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year, demonstrate ambition and self-drive to be a force for good in school, community or work activities, be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their achievements along with photographs for use in program promotion and information, and have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The foundation awards 100 $5000 renewable scholarships (totaling $20,000 over four years) and 100 $2,500 one-time awards for immediate costs. AIAA Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson Scholarship
Two, $10,000 awards will be given to high school seniors intending to pursue an aerospace STEM Major in one of the following areas: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Physics. AYA Healthcare Future Travel Nurse Scholarship
This program awards ten, $2000 scholarships to students in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher who have been accepted to a nursing program at an accredited institution in the United States. Applicants should demonstrate involvement in extracurricular organizations or volunteer work, and passion about patient care and a career in the health field. AIAA Roger W. Kahn Scholarship
This award was created to honor the memory of Roger Kahn (1907–1962) and his passion for aviation and entertainment. Kahn spent the latter part of his career at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation as a test pilot and then managed the technical service and sales division. In the 1940s, Kahn was actively involved with the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences (one of the predecessor organizations of AIAA) and later served as its vice president. Kahn also was an accomplished jazz musician as early as the 1920s, composing songs often featured in stage productions and early films, as well as leading numerous orchestras. He became a recording artist for some of the first record labels including Victor, Brunswick, and Columbia. AIAA is awarding up to four $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors who enroll in an engineering major at a college or university! Scholarship also includes complimentary airfare and hotel to attend the 2024 AIAA Awards Gala and a mentor from AIAA’s professional members to help guide the student to achieve a career in aerospace.Applications close on December 31, 2023. The Nelson Scholarship
Nelson Cabinetry is an international business covering the US and Canada, and is awarding a $1500 scholarship for a student pursuing business, interior design, and architecture.The award may be used towards expenses related to education including tuition, books, campus housing, and more. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and be enrolled in an accredited high school, college, or university within the U.S. Applicants can apply now via the online form found at nelsonkb.com/scholarships/ or email to [email protected]. In this email, please provide the committee with a short description of yourself and a 500-word statement on what Nelson Cabinetry could do in your field of study to improve our contribution. The Power of Resilience Scholarship
Scott has devoted his career to advocating for the rights of insurance policyholders and fighting for them to receive what they deserve- justice in the face of terrifying situations. Scott has established a $1,000 scholarship with the purpose of supporting a student. To apply, students should write an essay discussing a personal crisis and what lessons they learned from that experience both in their own personal life and in the larger community. The essay should discuss how resilience can be used to recover from a destructive situation. Eligible applicants should be in either high school or college (undergraduate or graduate program) and must show good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0. The scholarship recipient will have made clear their interest in the power of personal resilience when in crisis. Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarships

Learning Ally's National Achievement Award

Path to Pro
The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, train skilled tradespeople to fill the labor gap and support communities impacted by natural disasters. The Foundation has pledged to invest $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople and bridging the opportunity gap through its Path to Pro program, by providing scholarships to further education. An eligible applicant must: be a high school senior, high school graduate or have a GED equivalent, plan to enroll, or be enrolled, in an approved trade-related program at an accredited two-year school (technical/vocational school or college) in the United States, not be an employee or dependent of an employee of the The Home Depot. Employees of The Home Depot and their dependents are eligible to apply for a scholarship from The Homer Fund, focused on Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or Construction Management. Brooks Law Group
Brooks Law Group provides a $ 1,000 car accident injury scholarship to any high school senior or current undergraduate student. Applications are due by December 31, 2023 and there is an essay. To learn more, visit brookslawgroup.com/about-us/community/scholars.
JANUARY DEADLINES
Taco Bell Foundation Live Más Scholarship
The Live Más Scholarship is available to innovators, creators, and dreamers between the ages of 16 and 24. To be considered, you must create and submit a film, animation, or a simple testimonial of up to two minutes in length that tells the story of your life's passion. There are 100 awards that range from $5,000-$25,000 per student winner. Applications can be found at www.tacobellfoundation.org/live-mas-scholarship. The deadline to apply is January 3, 2024.
Taco Bell Foundation Live Más Scholarship for Taco Bell Employees
The Live Más Scholarship Program is open to students who are employees of Taco Bell. To be considered, you must submit a two-minute video that tells the story of your life's passion. The Foundation will issue 55 awards from $5,000-$10,000. The Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship winners will be announced in April. Previous Live Más winners have the option to renew their scholarships as well. Applications can be found at www.tacobellfoundation.org/live-mas-scholarship-for-restaurant-employees and are due by January 3, 2024.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Demonstrate at school, the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Minimum of a 3.0 GPA. U.S. citizen. Plan to enroll full-time at a four-year college/university in the U.S. The award is for $10,000 a year, for four years, and applications are due January 4, 2024. Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
This award provides generous four-year scholarships (uo to $35,000 over four years) and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs.
To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must be a graduating, minority high school senior, be a United States citizen, demonstrate evidence of financial need, academic excellence, leadership potential and a dedication to community service. They also must plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university, and have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college. Among other things, the application requires multiple essays as well as completion of the CSS profile (a specific financial aid application). The application must be submitted by January 10, 2023 and can be found at jackierobinson.org/scholarship.
Fidelity Scholars Program
This program offers a scholarship for living expenses and education to fill the gap after financial aid. It is open to historically underserved and underrepresented students between 16 and 24 years of age who are permanent residents of specific states, including Massachusetts. Eligible students must have between a 2.5 and 3.5 unweighted GPA or GED, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a four-year accredited college or university in the state of residence and an incoming freshman for the 2024-24 school year. Massachusetts Elks Scholarships
The Massachusetts Elks offers grants to students who demonstrate financial need, scholarship aptitude and good citizenship. These awards are renewable, but recipients must reapply each year for consideration. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2024. The MA Elks Scholarship is for students who will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a four year institution. This application is due to the local lodge by January 15, 2024. Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship
The computer science field is one of the fastest growing and most lucrative industries, but there’s a stark lack of diversity when it comes to both people and ideas. This scholarship will support the next generation of multi-faceted computer scientists, with a special focus on coders, by providing financial assistance to diverse students who want to combine computer science with their other passions to pave a unique path towards enriching our world and its technology. LGBTQIA+, Women, and/or BIPOC students who are majoring in computer science and are also pursuing other interests may apply. To apply, you will need to write about your computer science goals, your non-computer science goals, and how you might combine these goals in the future. Applications are due by January 15, 2024. Mensa US Scholarship
There are 178 awards of $2,500. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program in an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning during the academic year following the application date and submit an application and essay explaining his or her career, academic and/or vocational goals. Completed applications include an essay of not more than 550 words explaining their career, academic and/or vocational goals and how they plan to achieve those goals. Collegium Pharmaceutical Scholarship Program
Collegium Pharmaceutical will award two full-ride scholarships to Massachusetts-based high school seniors pursuing a STEM-related major at a U.S. university. Applicants to the Collegium Pharmaceutical Scholarship Program must be a high school senior or graduate who is entering their first year of undergraduate education, be a legal resident of the state of Massachusetts, plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States the entire upcoming academic year, pursue a degree in STEM** (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Mass. JCI Senate Scholarship Program
Two awards of $1,000, for graduating seniors who are continuing their education. The State winners will be forwarded to the National JCI Senate and will be eligible for additional $ 1500.00 scholarships. Diversity Advancement Scholarship
Since 1970, the Diversity Advancement Scholarship has been awarded to help build a pipeline of architects so that the profession better reflects the diverse communities they serve. Architects Foundation is working to attract, inspire and invest in the next generation of the profession with a multiyear scholarship of up to $20,000. Eligible students must be a US citizen or permanent resident and be a high school student planning to enroll in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program, a rising second-year college student in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program or a technical school or community college student who has completed high school or its equivalent and intends to transfer to a NAAB-accredited architecture program. Breanna Coleman Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This $2,500 scholarship is in memory of Breanna Coleman, who lost her life in a car accident in June, just a few months before she was to start nursing school. This scholarship seeks to honor her life by supporting students who share her passion for nursing and helping others.
Any high school senior who will be a first-generation college student pursuing a four-year degree in nursing may apply for this scholarship if they have volunteering and extracurricular involvement. Applicants will need to write about what inspired you to study nursing and how you currently give back to your community, and/or how you will give back in the future. St. Anne's Credit Union Scholarship Program

Union Plus Scholarship
This scholarship supports students of working families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. These $4000 scholarships will be awarded to current or retired members of a participating union, their spouse or a dependent child. The union member (applicant, applicant's spouse or parent) must have at least one year of continuous union membership. There will be 199 scholarships awarded. Sallie Mae will award 12 scholarships of $3,000 each. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be enrolled as a high school senior or a student enrolled at an accredited college or university located within the United States and carry a GPA of at least 2.5. Henry Thoreau Scholarship
The Henry David Thoreau Foundation identifies and supports outstanding young leaders from Massachusetts who are committed to safeguarding the environmental welfare of future generations. We call them Henry David Thoreau Scholars. Each year, the Foundation selects eight to ten top-ranking high school seniors from Massachusetts who demonstrate the potential for environmental leadership and intend to pursue interdisciplinary environmental studies in college. Each scholar receives a four-year scholarship of up to $25,000. In addition, Thoreau Scholars are eligible for an environmental internship stipend, which usually takes place between junior and senior year. Applications must be received by February 1, 2024. Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers will award 60 scholarships of $20,000 each. Eligible applicants are a graduating high school senior, current undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolling as part- time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the Fall of 2024 and has a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or 70 on a 100 point scale. This is a $1,000 scholarship opportunity that is intended to spur creative solutions to the distracted driving epidemic that is affecting the entire country. Applicants must write a 750-word minimum essay that explores the ways that you can prevent yourself and other people from texting behind the wheel. Besides discussing your personal relationship with this issue, applicants should outline solutions and prevention tips to improve the safety of everyone on the road. Black American Engineering Scholarship
Recipients will receive up to $10,000 per school year, to be used for tuition, books, fees and/or room & board. It is open to students pursuing careers in the classical engineering fields of civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering, including any subfield of those disciplines. The award includes the opportunity to receive mentoring from successful business professionals. Recipients can re-apply for up to 4 years. Successful applicants are Black American, incoming college freshman/current high school senior, or a student transferring from a two-year program into a four-year program, eligible for Federal Pell Grant funding, able to show proven financial need, a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity
This award, honoring Julie Schoo, consists of a $5,000 one-year scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship, named for the former executive director of the National Press Club Journalism institute, is to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The award can be renewed up to three years, for a total of $20,000 toward educational expenses. Jack Terry Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship aims to honor the life of Dr. Jack Terry by supporting students who have overcome hardships or adversity in their lives. Jack Terry was born in Poland in 1930, lost his entire family in the Holocaust and struggled to survive three Nazi Concentration Camps. At the end of the war, an American Army officer found Jack alone in the camp and arranged for him to come to the United States. Jack was then 15 years old, had no more than an elementary school education, and did not speak English. Yet, he worked hard through high school and college, became a geological engineer, and later went to medical school and became a psychoanalyst. He also served in the US Army, became an accomplished athlete, and was a beloved father and grandfather. Later in life, Jack devoted much of his time to sharing his story with students, spreading knowledge and hope.

Tau Beta Pi Association, the engineering honor society, is the world's largest engineering society. TheDream.US scholarships cover the full cost of tuition and fees for highly motivated undocumented students who are eligible to receive in-state tuition in their home state (not applicable if attending a private institution) but still have significant, unmet financial need. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Scholarships
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a child or stepchild of an Active duty, Reserve, or veteran U.S. Marine, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through a family adjusted gross income of $117,000, and be planning to attend an accredited school that is eligible for federal funding. National Italian American Foundation Scholarship
This organization will award $12,000 to 200 qualified applicants. Applicants must have an active NIAF Membership, or be the child or grandchild of an active member. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be enrolled in a US accredited institution of higher education on a full-time basis for the Fall 2024 semester and have a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent). Military Benefit Association Scholarship
The Military Benefit Association has established a scholarship program to assist members' dependent children and spouses, along with National Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans who are members and who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at any accredited institution of the student's choice. This year, MBA will award up to 25, $3,000 college scholarships for the Academic Year 2024. To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be a current high school senior living with a disability (as defined by WHO), whether that be visual, hearing, mobility, cognitive, speech or other disability. The applicant must plan to enroll in an undergraduate program at an accredited 2 or 4-year University/College or Vocational/Technical School, in the United States, in the fall of the upcoming academic year, and pursue a degree in the following eligible majors: engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field (e.g. paralegal, pre-law, finance, business administration, or marketing). Applicants should demonstrate a passion for technology and demonstrate leadership at school and/or in the community. Recipient will receive a $5,000 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted. Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation
This foundation was created to help deserving young men and women excel in their quest to improve themselves, their school or their community. This organization awards annual grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 as specifically requested for school tuition, summer programs and other appropriate extracurricular activities. The Stern Family Charitable Trust is proud to offer an annual Educational Scholarship for Perseverance. Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club
Applicants must be a graduating senior from an area high school and must be planning to attend an institution of higher education. Applicants are not required to be members of WRGC. Applicants with interest in environmental sciences and related majors may receive preference. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,250. New Bedford Civil War Roundtable Book Award
This award is in the amount of $500 and is a book award. It is open to all graduating seniors, and applicants must submit an essay of no more than 500 words in response to the following question: What do you feel is the most significant role or event New Bedford and surrounding communities played in the Civil War? Rebekah Assembly of Massachusetts

Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women, Inc. – Bristol Chapter

Discovery Museum Announces 2024 Scholarship Program
The opportunity is open to high school juniors and seniors in MA, funds can be used for any educational or developmental experience. The 2023 Discovery Museum Scholarship program will award four one-time $1,500 scholarships to high school juniors or seniors in MA who embody the mission and values of the Museum, to support them on the next leg of their educational journeys. For one of the four awards, preference will be given to Discovery Museum past or current employees or volunteers. Award money can be used for any educational or developmental experience, such as college or trade school tuition, travel expenses to support an exciting volunteer opportunity, or costs to provide a learning experience for young children. Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Scholarship
Three $2,500 awards will be provided to students pursuing degrees that will lead to manufacturing careers. Eligible applicants are currently enrolled in or entering a certificate or degree program which leads to a manufacturing career on a full-time basis (12 or more credit hours), and have a 2.5 GPA for trade, community, or technical colleges or 3.0 GPA for universities. Kochhar & Co. Scholarship
This award has a value of $1,000. Eligible applicants must be attending college or university on a full-time or part-time basis no later than September 2023, have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year, and be a resident of one of the United States or Canada. It is not necessary to be enrolled in a specific major. Applicants must submit an essay of under 1000 words, answering one of the following questions: "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for a Company?" or "What are the three most important things that an Accountant does for an Individual?" Airmen Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program
The AMF conducts scholarship programs to financially assist the undergraduate studies of eligible dependents of military personnel. AMF/CMSAF/AFSA scholarships are valued from $1,000 to $5,000 to students age 23 or younger attending an accredited academic institution. To be eligible, a student must be an unmarried child/adopted or stepchild of active duty, retired or veteran member of USAF, ANG or AFRC, be age 23 years or younger, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. High school seniors or full-time college students may apply. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted to an accredited college/university, and dependent upon their parent or guardian for over 1/2 of his/her support. CMP Scholarship Program
The CMP will present not just one, but FOUR $5,000 scholarships that will be renewable for 4 years (Total value of each scholarship awarded: $20,000). The “Carolyn Hines Memorial Scholarship” will be awarded to the top graduating senior who best exemplifies Dr. Hines’ ideals. Three additional scholarships will be awarded to top seniors to commemorate the retirement of longtime CMP Board members who were all devoted to sustaining youth activities. The overall applicants will be determined by members of the CMP Scholarship Committee. The remaining CMP Scholarships are one-year awards that may be used to fund any accredited secondary education, technical/trade school or vocational program. CMP Scholarships may also be used to pursue a post-secondary education during the upcoming school year. The scholarships are paid directly to the scholarship recipient. The check may then be used to pay other fees or expenses that are not covered by other awards or grants. The CMP seeks applications from high school seniors who currently compete in marksmanship competitions. Based on merit, selected individuals are high school seniors who are currently enrolled in a team or club that is participating in marksmanship competitions. To be eligible for CMP scholarships, junior shooters must be a U.S. Citizen, be of good moral character, be a graduating high school senior, demonstrate acceptance to a university, college or trade school leading to a diploma or trade certification and demonstrate marksmanship competition experience. Prince Henry Society New Bedford Chapter Scholarship
To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors from the greater New Bedford area with some Portuguese descent seeking an undergraduate or associate degree from an accredited college/university. Applicants must electronically submit a copy of their transcript, at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, etc., and a copy of your college acceptance letter. Several awards offered have specific criteria that applicants must meet in order to qualify:
1. A parishioner in good standing of the Immaculate Conception Church.
2. A student from NBHS pursuing a law degree, with preference given to a Boston University candidate.
3. Three scholarships are reserved for students pursuing a career in medicine.
4. A student, athlete, preference given to a NBHS soccer player.
5. A female student pursuing a career in education.
6. A student who attended the “Carlos Pacheco Elementary School” in New Bedford.
7. A student enrolled in a pre-dental program.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship
AFA’s Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship provides educational funding to college-bound high school seniors who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Applicants must complete an essay of no more than 1,500 words or submit a video no longer than four minutes long, describing the impact of Alzheimer’s disease/dementia-related illness on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned from it. The National Catholic College Admissions Association First-Year Scholarship Application
The National CCAA First-Year Scholarship is awarded to 16 randomly selected students from various geographic regions who attend one of the 116 member institutions in fall 2024. The scholarship is a one-time, $1,000 award. Additional information, including the list of member institutions and this year's application is available at www.catholiccollegesonline.org. Azorean Maritime Heritage Scholarship
This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from the Class of 2024. A total of eight scholarships will be awarded to the surrounding community. Applicants will need to write an essay illustrating one of the following: your commitment to the community, your appreciation for Azorean culture, or your relationship to the sea such as boating, marine studies, fishing, or other water activities. Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship
Fifty-eight (58) scholarships of $3,500 are awarded each academic year to help childhood cancer survivors achieve their academic and professional goals. Eligible applicants are childhood cancer survivors under the age of 25 and diagnosed before the age of 18 with cancer or a high grade or anaplastic brain tumor, citizens of the United States living within the country and attending school in the U.S., and accepted into a post-secondary school for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year. Club Madeirense S. S. Sacramento Charitable Foundation, Inc.
Each year, the Club Madeirense S. S. Sacramento Charitable Foundation, Inc. presents up to thirty $1000 scholarship awards to graduating high school students. Scholarships available to graduating seniors seeking an undergraduate or associate degree from an accredited college or university or seeking a certificate of completion from an accredited trade school. Tyler Joseph Leonard Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of Tyler Joseph Leonard, a 2007 graduate of Dartmouth High School and 2014 graduate of Bridgewater State University. He loved playing guitar, was a self-taught keyboard and harmonica player, and performed with The Dancer's Edge Dance Company for many years. Friendly Sons of St Patrick General Scholarship
This organization is offering two awards. A general scholarship of $1000 is available to deserving students in the Greater New Bedford area. Applicants must include a personal statement regarding why this scholarship will be helpful and how it will help the applicant achieve his/her postsecondary goals. A $2000 Irish Heritage scholarship is also available. Applicants must respond to the following essay question in 1500-1800 words: Describe the legacy of John Hume in Ireland and around the world. Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc.
This organization offers several scholarships for undergraduate students (including high school seniors who will be freshmen in the Fall), and graduate students who will be attending accredited colleges and universities. Scholarships are available for students majoring in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape design or architecture, Conservation, Forestry, agronomy, City planning, Environmental studies, Land management, Botany, Biology and allied subjects. Applicants must have maintained a legal residence in Massachusetts for at least one year, have a minimum "B" average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale), have good character, and have financial need. Foundation for Fraternal Excellence Men's College Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities, and community involvement. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating high school senior who is enrolling in a four-year undergraduate college program that commences in the fall. The scholarship is awarded through the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence, a registered 501(c)3 organization. Current or future membership in a fraternity is not required. New Bedford Day of Portugal Scholarship
This award is available to any graduating high school senior seeking an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or an applicant currently in an undergraduate program attending an accredited college or university. A completed application includes an essay that responds to the following two questions: What does your Portuguese heritage mean to you? How would you promote in the future the Portuguese language, culture and traditions in our community for future generations? To download the application, visit this site. Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund
Scholarships from this fund are awarded every year to over 150 new applicants, as well as 300 returning, to assist in making college more accessible by removing financial barriers. Awards range from $2,000 to as high as $17,000, based on each applicant’s unmet need and are renewable each year, for students who maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. The average award each year is between $6,000 to $10,000. Open to students with significant financial need Awards are limited to residents of New England states only. Hawthorn Medical will be offering $2,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue education in the healthcare field at an accredited program in 2024-25. Saint Julie’s Ladies Guild Scholarship
Any high school senior who has been accepted into a school of higher learning with a minimum of a two year program and is a registered member of St. Julie’s Parish who has served in a ministry or completed hours of service may apply.
