“All children have different levels of ability, development and learning styles which are expected and accepted.”

The Integrated Preschool Program functions as an integral part of the educational programs offered by the New Bedford Public Schools. The Integrated Preschool Program provides a high quality educational experience for your child using research-based practices and a hands-on approach in our curriculum programming. Students learn in a rich environment where children are different in their abilities and where they can gain social skills in working and playing with a wide range of other children. Children develop feelings of security and success and build self confidence as they experience new successes with peers. Children, our students, are introduced to school and discover learning. Our programs are delivered by highly qualified staff and licensed teachers who are dedicated to providing many opportunities for their students to be successful learners. The goal of the preschool is to meet children’s individual learning needs in the areas of cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and language development. Each preschool class is limited to 15 children. A maximum of seven spaces out of the 15 will be reserved for children with special needs. Children must be three years old to enter the program. Parent involvement is encouraged and volunteer opportunities are available.

Curriculum and Activities Our integrated preschool curriculum emphasizes high quality, age- appropriate activities addressing a variety of skill areas, such as, self-help, social, language, fine and gross motor and school readiness skills. The curriculum is multi-sensory and follows the follows Massachusetts Department of Education Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences.
