Rock Me Amadeus will feature eight rock bands performing on stage for the very first time. Each band is made up of people representing different segments of our community - our local celebrities - such as the Mayor’s Band, the New Bedford Police Band, the St. Luke’s Hospital Band, Local Educators and Principal’s Band, Former Beauty Queen’s Band, City Council Band, Local Restaurant Band and the Media Band, comprised of various radio hosts, television personalities and newspaper writers. Together, with a little help from some local professional musicians, these rock bands will put on a fantastic show for a crowd of 500 people.
It has been an amazing experience to see people from our community step forward in support of music education. People that you never knew could play an instrument, or like Mayor Scott Lang, who has not played the drums for many years, are coming together to put on the most amazing rock concert. For one night, our local politicians, professionals and celebrities will trade in their day jobs to become temporary rock stars for this important cause. Currently, the bands are all busy in rehearsal preparing for the big show. Attendees can show their support by wearing their favorite rock ‘n roll attire to the event. It will be a great night for a great cause, and we hope that you can be there to enjoy it and support music education in our local schools.
