Welcome to the New Bedford Curriculum Resources website! The site is structured around the New Bedford Instructional Framework (NBIF). The NBIF is meant to be a resource for teachers and instructional leaders in the district, and it is composed of two pieces. The first piece of the NBIF is an outline of the components of rigorous instruction, including:

These main components of rigorous instruction are not simply a new set of standards for principals to use when evaluate teachers. They are not a checklist of requirements that teachers must include in every lesson. They are not a substitute for the Educator Evaluation Rubric.

Rather, the NBIF seeks to provide a common understanding of rigorous instruction to all teachers and instructional leaders in the district so that they can engage in more substantive, growth-producing conversations about instructional practice. The NBIF breaks down rigorous instruction into a set of finite skills on which teachers can focus to develop their practice, with support from their principals and the Office of Instruction. Moreover, the NBIF is aligned with the Educator Evaluation Rubric and the district's Accelerated Improvement Plan, so it is not "another thing on our plate." In fact, it is actually a narrower view of both the Educator Evaluation Rubric and the AIP to promote greater focus in the district.

The second piece of the NBIF is the resource bank presented on this site. Organized and developed by the Office of Instruction with contributions from principals and teachers, this resource bank seeks to support all teachers and instructional leaders in the district as they strive to improve student outcomes in New Bedford Public Schools.
